Chairman of Chemonics Egypt, one of Egypt’s premier engineering and management consulting firms, and co-founder and board member of three other environmental businesses operating in Egypt and the MENA region. Full professor of Chemical Engineering at Cairo University, where taught and led research in the fields of chemical, environmental and biomedical engineering. Well versed in technological, economic, and social dimensions of environmental issues, with strong technical grounding in environmental engineering subdisciplines related to water, energy and global warming. Experienced practitioner in strategic planning, and organization development. Planned and managed programs in Egypt, Libya, Iraq and Syria, demonstrating a variety of appropriate and innovative technologies for rural sanitation, sludge management, wastewater reuse, and solid waste management. Closely involved with long-term, multi-donor supported institutional reform programs in the Egyptian water resources, irrigation and municipal water and sanitation sectors, as well as the local development/decentralization sector.
